My name is Sydney Carmer ("SydVC" - she/they/he), and I am a multimedia artist from North Carolina. I am currently based in California, where I am pursuing my MFA in Film and Television Production at UCLA, concentrating in Cinematography. Previously, I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in May 2024 with a BFA in Art, double concentrating in Digital Media and Illustration. I was also in the Arts + Architecture Honors Program, and double-minored in Psychology and Art History. I specialize in digital media, including videography and 2D graphic animation, but my visual arts background makes me experienced in a wide range of media. I'm an organized, quick learner who is always ready to adapt to feedback. Through my studies, I hope to strengthen my eye for cinematography and become a valuable asset on set. Throughout my work, I aim to reveal the poignant yet playful aspects of contemporary relationships via the intersection of horror and humor. My work can be playful, childlike, and funny, but also spooky, dark, and emotional. The intersection of these contrasting aesthetics is where I thrive, encouraging viewers to engage with strange and taboo topics. From behind a camera or computer screen to inside an art gallery, my passion for community and experimentation fuels my creative research. Outside of art, I spend my time watching movies, playing soccer, reading, and playing card games with my family. Please don't hesitate to reach out through my business email: sydvcart@gmail.com
